Pointless Survey

Thu Oct 15, 2009, 6:50 AM
I found this survey on `silentkittys last Journal and as my code is compiling I will fill it out as well.

1. Why did you join this site?

I wanted to share my photography and improve my skills by looking at others.
No, honestly I'm just a weirdo who looks out for others in his area to meet. You know, socializing and such. So having a page where there are people that have something in common with me seemed a good Idea. I like the Rules here more then on other places and I know dA since...well... 2001 or so, as in: ever. But before I started to make photos more seriously I never took up the hassle to join.

2. What does your username have to do with you? Is it a combination of your favorite things, or a character of yours?

Once upon a time, I was in need of a nick for a role playing character, a thief. So I wanted to point out that he lurks into shadows.
Also I was told that I can be a rather funny person (in Germany one gets called 'Schelm' then, that translates as joker or harlequin) so I become the shadowschelm. But after a while I thought that adding a twist to the name would be a good Idea so I changed it to des Schatten Schelm. (Thats a german grammar thing. "The shadowy joker" would be "Der Schatten Schelm" which also could mean "The Joker of the shadows" (plural), wheras "Des Schatten Schelm" is more like "The Joker of the Shadow" or "The Joker for the Shadow")

Also "schattenschelm" is a race in the never ending story. People who are either man without casting a shadow or a shadow but no one who casts it. (If you have not yet read the book, go do it)

3. What is your current icon of?

Me, Myself and I featuring my Olympus.

4. How many watchers do you have and how many people are you currently watching?

Few :) I watch 35 people but most of them are no longer active or post very seldom. 12 people watch me.

5. Do you have more than one account?

No, but I am thinking of doing a stock account. Although I don't have a lot of stock.

6. Name 3 of your favorite artists on DA.

Tricky, I like my own work actually a lot, but here are three others that inspire me over and over again:

:icongruye: :iconkarakuji: :iconblack-eyes:

7. What deviant do you admire because of their personality?

Yet I did not learn someone from here well enough to give any statements about their personality.

8. How many people on here do you actually know in reality? Post their avatars.

Err... One. :iconoutys:

9. Do you comment, fave, or both?

I mostly just fave. When there is something more to say then just "I like it" then I comment.
When I have time I like to critique. (As I currently have 2 critiques, you see that I don't have much time)

10. What do you typically post on deviantart?

Photos. I don't do any other art.
Journals, when ever I feel like it.

11. Do you participate in clubs or contests here on DA?

I am in :iconurbanexploration:.
I like participating in contests, yet I did not got it on how to locate them. If I find out I will do it more I think.

12. What is your most popular deviation?

I like it, but I will have to go there do make it right, there are parts of the image I would do different now.

13. What's your favorite submission in your favorites gallery?

Hmm... tricky. Lets see...
is great, but is it my 'favorite favorite'? I don't know. It will have to do for the moment.

14. What are the things you wish you could draw better?

Well, like... everything. On photos: Humans, Architecture, Perspective.

15. Are you a subscriber?

Yep, for the critiques feature mostly.

16. How many hours a day do you spend on DA?

From 0 - 5.

17. Are you a fast, slow, or medium typer?

Depends. I type fast, but I usually have to think about what to type.

18. What is the most annoying thing people ask you?

Nothing. (As in: it annoys me to be asked so few things)

19. What is the most annoying comment you get?

None, see 18.

20. What inspires you?

Lust, but I won't talk about it.

21. Do you use any traditional media?

No. Digital Photography, digital photo manipulation if necessary.

22. Do you associate people online with their icons?

No, they have names. As in real live I associate people with their names if at all. Usually I remember people by what they did.

23. Have you ever suggested a Daily Deviation?

Not yet.

24. Everyone has considered leaving DA once or twice. Have you?

Yes, about a day before buying my first subscription.

Hallo! Vielen Dank für den Favoriten.
Ich finde deine Galerie beeindruckend! Sehr düstere und atmosphärische Lichtgebung. *geht noch mal ein bisschen schauen*

I woke up and had this strange organic object in my hand. I've never seen anything quite like this before. It opened its eye and looked and me and said: 'How about an orange?'

Hmm... ich habe noch nichts auf meiner devwatch gesehen, aber ich freu mich schon auf die Bilder.
